STAY PREPARED FOR DENTAL EMERGENCIES

Accidents happen, but being prepared can make all the difference. Keep a first aid kit on hand to address common dental injuries. It's a good idea to have one in your car for emergencies, as well. Your kit should include:

  • Sterile gloves

  • Gauze (rolls and squares)

  • Antiseptic

  • Distilled water

HANDLING COMMON DENTAL EMERGENCIES

If you experience a blow to the mouth and your tooth becomes loose, broken, or knocked out, immediate action is needed. The best chance of saving a knocked-out tooth is if it's treated within 30 minutes. Here's how to manage the situation until you get to our clinic:

  1. Collect the tooth or tooth fragments.

  2. Rinse your mouth with clean water.

  3. Apply gauze to any bleeding areas and bite down gently to stop the bleeding.

  4. Keep the tooth moist by placing it in your cheek pouch (avoid touching the root) or in a glass of milk.

  5. Contact our clinic immediately for prompt treatment.

TOOTH INFECTIONS, HEAD INJURIES, AND FACIAL TRAUMA

Tooth infections are a serious dental emergency that requires immediate attention. If you're experiencing persistent pain, swelling, fever, or a bad taste in your mouth, you may have an infection. Don't wait for symptoms to worsen—contact Omnia Dental Clinic right away for treatment. If we're unable to see you immediately, seek another dentist for prompt care.

In addition to dental issues, head injuries often accompany facial trauma. If you're involved in a car accident or experience a severe injury, check for head injuries first. If you suspect a broken jaw or serious facial trauma, head to the nearest emergency hospital. For cuts inside the mouth that may need stitches, a medical center can assist if we're unavailable.
